Privacy policy
Who runs REFLEX
REFLEX is an independent, Canadian-owned app, operated from Toronto, Canada. This policy covers the REFLEX mobile app and the servers behind it at reflexlift.com.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, your email address and, from Google, a profile picture link. We use them to create and identify your account.
- Your sets. The videos you film or upload, the date and time, and what you tell us about the set: the exercise, the weight and the reps.
- What we measure from the video. Body landmark positions frame by frame, rep timings, depth, bar path and similar measurements, an annotated copy of the video, and one still image per rep.
- What the coach writes. The notes on each set, your questions and the answers, and the weekly recaps.
- Your settings. Weight units, weekly target, time zone, goal and experience level, and, if you turn reminders on, a push notification token for your phone.
We do not collect your location, your contacts, or anything from other apps. There are no advertising trackers or analytics services in the app.
How it is used
- To measure your sets, compare them with your earlier sets, and write coaching notes.
- To send the notifications you asked for: training-day reminders, the Sunday recap, and "your notes are ready".
- To keep the service working: error logs, abuse prevention, and usage limits.
Coaching notes are technique feedback only. REFLEX gives no medical, injury or safety advice.
Who else sees your data
- Hosting. Videos, images and measurements are stored on DigitalOcean servers in Toronto, Canada.
- The coach's language model. To write notes, answer questions and write recaps we send the measurements, your set details and your goal, as text, to a language model through a model provider. Your video is never sent for this.
- Exercise identification. When a set is not a squat or a deadlift, up to five cropped frames of the video may be sent to a vision model to name the exercise. Those frames are used for that answer only.
- Sign-in providers. Google or Apple confirm who you are when you sign in. We do not post anything to your Google or Apple account.
- Push notifications go through Expo's and Google's notification services.
Nobody else. We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train models. If that ever changes, this policy changes first and you will be told in the app.
How long we keep it
- Videos of sets that could not be measured are deleted after 7 days.
- The original video of a measured set is deleted after 180 days. The annotated copy, the stills and the measurements stay with your history.
- Everything else stays until you delete it or your account.
Your choices
- Delete a set from its screen: the video, the images and every number go with it.
- Delete your account from the You tab: every set, image, note and setting is removed immediately, and your sign-in is disconnected.
- Reminders and the lock are switches in the You tab. The fingerprint or face lock uses your phone's own check; REFLEX never receives biometric data.
- Sharing only happens when you tap Share; nothing is public by default.
You can also email us to ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted.
Security
Videos are stored in a private bucket and served through short-lived links. Your session on the phone is a random token kept in the device keychain; only a hash of it is stored on the server. Connections are encrypted.
Age
REFLEX is for people aged 16 and over. If you are younger, please do not create an account.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes and the app shows a notice. Continuing to use REFLEX after that means you accept the new version.
